Over the last week, I've noticed that I haven't talked to any of my online friends lately. So, I went to MySpace and sent a message to some of them. Half of them wrote back, and half of them removed me from their friends list. Checking, all but one of the ones who removed me also blocked me. At college, I decided to do the same, but it's scarier in person. I know my friend Rhonda works in the library, so I went there Tuesday, expecting the worst (though she has told me repeatedly that she just can't keep in touch with people online; they have to be in-person). We talked a while. It was actually, on and off, for five hours until she had to take Peggy home and I had to get home before dark anyway, since I left my bicycle lights at home. Rhonda is taking College Algebra from Dr. Refsland now. I took it (and dropped it, even though I did have a D average) from Mr. Conner. We were in Chapter 4 (supposedly the most important chapter: Logarithmic and Exponential Functions) by midterm, but she's just getting wrapped up on Chapter 1. There seems to be majorly different teaching philosophies between the teachers. I must say I prefer Mr. Conner's; as hard as he might be, he is at least one of the few teachers there who teaches what he should be teaching and not concerning himself with making the majority of the class get good grades. But I think I'm going to take Trig next semester and then take College Algebra over the summer. Trig isn't available every semester, so if I do it that way, I should be ready for Physics I, C++, and Visual BASIC next fall, and be able to have a more consistent schedule. Peggy also spoke to me. I thought she had had enough of me, since a couple of weeks ago she was talking to William (the one person who removed me from his friends list without blocking me) and didn't acknowledge my presence (I didn't expect her to quit talking to William, but waving or something and letting me just leave after that would have been nice), so I've been avoiding her ever since. It was doubly scary since both Peggy and Rhonda were in the library together. But it turned out well, for the time being. I have a feeling things are going to get worse, though. The only way they could be better is if there were a man who would show any physical interest in me at all, but eh... we know that's not going to happen. |
