From the sweat coming from his brow, the drummer knew he had taken the crowd to a new point of musical facination. His short brown hair was tossled as though he just finished a four mile marathon, and his fingers were frozen and swelled. He knew by the hollow ringing of his ears that his band gave another fine performance. Now it was time to chill with some cold ones and tare down their equipment. It was 2:00 A.M. and the bar was still crowded. The dance floor had scattered remnants of beer cans and bottles with wet patches of spilled alcohol. The drummer kissed his sticks before he put them back into the red velvet case which they normally resided in when he was approached from behind from a tall, slender blond female. "You did absolutely awesome!" she said. He could not hear her because of the thunderous pounding taking place in his ears, but he turned around and faced a beautiful middle aged woman with the most remarkable turquoise colored eyes. "Geez..thanks," he said as his brown eyes got magnetized by the color of hers. She smiled at him as he stared alluringly into her eyes and noticed the perfection of her crimsom red lips. "I saw you dancing out there. I'm glad you had a great time," he said as he wiped his face with a towel. She let out a slight sigh and watched him. "Your singer nailed every song," she said. "Thanks again, he wasn't quite sure he would be ready to play tonight, but I thought he did pretty well, and what is your name?" he asked her as he started to unscrew one of his symbols never taking his eyes off of hers. The drunken crowd started to filter out the main doors of 'The Scotchmen's Club' stubbling their way to known or unknown vehicles. "I am Christina, but you may call me Chris," she said. "and you are?" The drummer set his symbol down on the floor beside his drum set and wiped his right hand on the side of his Levi's and reached out and said, "I am Luke and you can call me anything anytime, or any place." he said as he shook her hand. |
