Yesterday, I was experimenting with extending commercial canned chicken soup. I boiled an additional cup of rice and added soup stock (previously made by boiling the hell out of left over chicken wing bones) and topped it off withsome leftover celery.  I left the mixture on slow simmer after adding some extra virgin olive oil.

When I checked it an hour later, the rice underwent a second swelling and had piled up in a low conical formation, emmitting steam from the top , thus inadvertantly simulating a volcano. (I should have videotaped it but was more concerned about ingesting it.)

So much for kitchen geomorphology experiments...

(I  doubt if anyone would care to replicate this event.)
